AESTHETIC
GYNECOLOGY AND RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERIES IN GYNECOLOGY
Aesthetic gynecology can be
defined as a system of procedures aimed at enhancing the appearance and
attractiveness of female genital organs and, consequently, leading to the
improvement of their sexual functions. It results in a much better sense of
self-attractiveness and mental comfort of the
treated women. It also has an enormous influence on the way a
woman’s partner perceives her.
Who is the best
candidate to undergo surgeries in terms of aesthetic gynecology?
- women
who are not fully satisfied with the way their genital organs look like
- multiparous
women after numerous often traumatic childbirths
- women
with a diminished sexual comfort
Aesthetic gynecology is the
renovation and enhancement of the appearance as well as functions of female
genital organs.
We perform the following types of surgeries:
- Labioplasty
of labia majora and labia minora
- Vaginoplasty
and perineoplasty
- aesthetic
rejuvenation of the aging vagina
- perineum
reconstruction after childbirth, often instrumental deliveries
- Reconstructive
surgeries connected with sagging of genital organs
- Hymenoplasty
(restoration of the hymen)
Labioplasty
of the labia majora and labia minora
Labia minora
Labioplasty of the labia minora is a surgical
procedure the purpose of which is to reduce or change the shape of the labia
minora, i.e. skin folds surrounding the opening of the vagina (see the picture
below).

An excessive size or asymmetry of the labia,
according to a patient, may be genetically based, or be an effect of
childbirths or can be simply connected with physiological aging of this region
of the body.
In some cases, women having huge labia can feel
pain during sexual intercourses. It may also disturb daily physical activities
and unable a woman to wear tight underwear.
Some women may feel unattracive as well as they
may desire to enhance their sexual gratification via surgical correction of the
deformities of this very intimate region of the body. Moreover, very often
overgrown labia may become a source of embarrassement and confussion in the
presence of a sexual partner.
Labia majora
Labia majora can be either too small or too
huge as a woman may claim. It may be connected with too fast gaining or losing
weight. Surgical correction of the labia majora is possible to perform and may
positively influence one’s self-attractiveness.
Who is the best
candidate to undergo labioplasty?
Women who feel discomfort during sexual
intercourses or are simply embarrassed by the size and asymmetry of their
labia.
Surgery and
postoperative period
The surgery usually lasts about 2 hours.
It is an ambulatory surgery performed under
local, subarachnoid
or extradural anaesthesia.
Following the surgery, one may feel very little
pain strictly connected with postoperative edema and healing of the wound,
which ususally disappears after one or two weeks. Postoperative wound usually
heals without any complications not leaving any visible scaring.
Vaginoplasty
Vaginoplasty is aimed at making vagina more
flexible or rejuvenated and consists in performing such surgical procedures
which improve both the muscle structure as well as soft tissue in the region of
the vagine.
The damage in this region may be of various
origin:
- childbirths,
often instrumental
deliveries,
- hard
physical work,
- the
loss of flexibility of the structural architecture of the vagina going along
with aging of the whole body (postmenopausal period).
The surgical procedure usually consists in
enhancing the vaginal muscle tone, increasing the strength and control of their
contractions, as a result of which sexual gratification usually increases.
Surgery and
postoperative period
Vaginoplasty is a standard gynecological
procedure. The increase of vaginal muscle tone and the surrounding soft tissue
can be obtained by a small reduction of the excessive amount of mucosa and the
restoration of the muscular structure together with the plasty of the perineum.
Following the surgery a patient should be
moderate in activities for a few days and for 6-8 weeks in sexual activities.
The risk of complication is small. It may
include bleeding, infection or scaring.
Hymenoplasty
(restoration of the hymen)
In some communities, it is crucial for a woman
to have undamaged hymen due to cultural or religious reasons. Restoration
gynecology enables the patient to restore or change the shape of the damaged
hymen.
The procedure is performed ambulatory under
local anaesthesia and the rehabilitation process does not last longer than a few
days.
